Volunteer Opportunities
with the Central Committee

Job descriptions for positions within the Jackson County Central Committee

1. State Delegate: Jackson County currently is allocated 3 State Delegates, one for each 15,000 registered Republicans. State Delegates are elected at Jackson County’s reorganization meeting, following the general election in November, during the even numbered years. As a representataive of Jackson County, State Deligates are responsible for attending all State Central Committee meetings, at their own expense, including the platform convention in the summer during even-numbered years. Delegates should be aware of all issues facing the State Party as these are typically discussed at the State meetings. State Delegates are voting members of the Jackson County Executive Committee.

2. Alternate State Delegate: Jackson County is allocated 5 Alternate State Delegates, one for each of the five Jackson County State Central Committee positions: Chair, V-Chair, 3 Delegates. Alternates are chosen by the total votes tallied at the Jackson County reorganization meeting in November during even-numbered years, with the person(s) with the five highest totals being elected. The vote total gives them priority in acting as a delegate, should one of the 5 regular delegates be unable to attend a State Convention. They are responsible for attending State Central Committee meetings, at their own expense, as much as reasonably possible. Alternate Delegates should be aware of all issues facing the State Party as these are typically discussed at the State meetings. They are non-voting members of the Jackson County Executive Committee.

3. Precinct Coordinator: PCP Coordinator has the overall responsibility for maintaining accurate records of current PCP’s, working with the County Elections Dept. to maintain accuracy, acting as the organizer for PCP re-elections and new appointments by providing all existing PCP’s with the re-election form in a timely manner prior to the March filing deadline and announcing new appointees and ratifications to the Central Committee at the quarterly meetings. PCP Coordinator provides current information to the County Elections Department when appointees have been ratified and works with the Secretary to be sure that meeting notices go out to appointees in a timely fashion. Working with each District Coordinator to help solve problems, the PCP Coordinator attends District Coordinator meetings, and, when he/she has nothing else to do, he/she recruits and trains new PCP’s. The PCP Coordinator Serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and  is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee.

4. District Precinct Coordinator: The DPC is recruited by the Executive Committee to serve as a liaison between the PCP Coordinator and the Precinct Captains. As a middle level link, the DPC reports to the Executive Committee, helps to reduce the work load of the PCP Coordinator by locating new Precinct Captains and PCP’s, provides training to Precinct Captains and PCP’s on Voter Vault, policies and programs of the party, and knowledge of the current offices from county to state level. A District Precinct Coordinator is not a member of the Executive Committee.

6. Parliamentarian: Acts as the arbiter of parliamentary procedure in the case of any dispute which might arise during the course of any Jackson County Central Committee meeting(s). He or she should be well versed in Robert’s Rules of Order and on the same page with the Chair as to the level of conformity to Robert’s Rules of Order which the Chair seeks to maintain during meetings. The Parliamentarian serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee.

7. Information/Technology Director: Serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and performs the following:

Information: Acts as a repository for all of the data collected during the course of the 2-year cycle. This would include volunteer information, PCP lists, and inventory of party property. Archiving of computer files and storage of paper files between election cycles. Create and maintain passwords for all computers.

Technology: Is responsible for maintenance and repair of all office equipment. Installs all software and maintains updates. Prepares and installs equipment at party HQ. Is the primary source of training and technical support to party members.

Voter Vault : Coordinates access to Voter Vault. This includes keeping records of who has access, processes requests for passwords and managing the county list. Works with the entire Central Committee on training in the use of Voter Vault. May be required to attend training sessions for V.V. at the state level.

Webmaster: Oversees the content of the County website. Communicates with various team Chairs, including the Republican Women, so as to maintain the website in an up to date fashion. Works on design, data entry and other essential technical aspects required of the website. Maintains the county-wide E-Mail list.

The IT Director is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee

8. Voter Integrity Team: Works with both the state party and the County Elections Department to monitor ballot testing, Election Day ballot integrity at the County elections department, and other issues relating to the integrity of elections, which may arise from time to time. The Chair of the Voter Integrity Team Must be versed on current election laws and may be required to attend training sessions for voter integrity at the state level. The Voter Integrity Chair serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee.

 9.Voter Registration Team: Coordinates voter registration efforts in Jackson County. Identifies events and other opportunities for voter registration efforts. Works with County Elections Department to insure accuracy in voter registration. The Chair of the Voter Registration Team must understand current voter registration laws and may be required to attend training sessions for voter registration at the state level. The Voter Registration Team Chair serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee.

 10. Bylaws Team: Works with the Executive Committee and PCP’s who petition for changes to the bylaws. Must be knowledgeable of current County and State bylaws and State law impacting the creation of bylaws. The Chair of the Bylaws Team must be in contact with State Bylaws Chair and may be required to attend training sessions for Bylaws at the state level.The Bylaws Chair serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee.

  11. Letters- to- the- EditorTeam: Develops and coordinates letters- to- the -editor writing campaigns. Team members should be regular readers of the letters section of local papers and be able to write and express ideas well.The Chair of the Letters Team should be in contact with local Republican officials and the IT Director, and be able to quickly organize a letters program when circumstances dictate. The Letters-To-The-Editor Chair serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee.

 12. Candidate Recruitment Team: Acts as a liaison between the Executive Committee and all individuals interested in pursuing partisan elected offices in Jackson County. Works with local business and civic groups, individuals who have elected positions inside the county and Republican State Leadership, to identify and develop relationships leading to candidacy for partisan office. Advises such individuals of opportunities for self-promotion at social, civic and party events and other means of maintaining visibility in the public eye. Maintains contact with interested persons and advises the Executive Committee on particulars. The Chair of the Candidate Recruitment Team must be conversant on applicable county, state and federal election laws. The Candidate Recruitment Chair serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee.

13. Special Events Team: Organizes our special events and activities, including the Lincoln Day Dinner. Oversees development of the event’s theme, guests, promotion, location, food service, decorations, and other components of the production of the event. The Special Events Team Chair serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee.

14. Jackson County Fair Team: Organizes the booth at the County Fair, including design of booth, scheduling staff, contacting Republican officials, providing Republican Party literature, and other components of the fair booth. The Jackson County Fair Team Chair serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and reports to the Executive Committee as needed.

15. Fund Raising Team:  Oversees fund raising efforts for the Party.  Has the authority to direct fund raising efforts through methods approved by the Executive Committee.  Team members should represent diverse and committed interests for the Republican Party. The Fund Raising Team Chair serves at the pleasure of the County Chair and is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee.
